I was the first on my family to attend college. As such, I recognize that people with limited college experience tend to encounter more challenges (e.g., funding opportunities, social culture, time management, etc). 

Part of my teaching experience includes seeing the struggles within a socio-economic disadvantaged community, I have noticed the challenges that students from such communities have to overcome in our society. I do my best to create a safe environment where everyone can feel comfortable to be their self.

As a former volleyball player and coach I gained skills that I utilize for life and academia; e.g., supporting teammates, strategic management, analyzing mistakes, and the importance of effective communication. These skills are needed when working as a team to reach a common goal.
